INTRO: What's in a trance? It's a state of mind that has a
history of fascinating society through the ages.

From ancient shamanic ceremonies that provoke visions
with extended rituals and mind-blowing chemistry, through
the whirling dervishes of 13th century Islam, the hypnosis
techniques of Professor Mesmer and others in the 20th
century, right up to the cathartic all-night dance marathons
of the rave generation — inducing trance states...
is something like the extreme sports division of mysticism.

On this edition of Hearts of Space called TRANCE-FORMATION,
we'll take a slightly safer approach — with a trance-ambient
journey by musicians who attempt to create this experience
in sound.
