PGM 803 : "WEST BY SOUTHWEST"
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
PGM NOTE : an ambient steel guitar journey
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
FEED DATE : 5-25-07
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=

INTRO: The American Southwest is a mythic landscape,
hewn for eons by nature...and centuries by man. It's home to
vast desert spaces, endless mesas and monumental canyons —
and several distinctive American musical genres, among them
a spacious, languid, yearning sound perfectly captured by the
slide and pedal steel guitar. It's a sound we like to return to
in the warm summer months.

On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we immerse ourselves
in the subtle, chiming, floating twang of the steel guitar and
the dobro...on a program called WEST BY SOUTHWEST.

=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
PGM NOTE : a journey on the water planet
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
FEED DATE : 5-18-07
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=

INTRO: Here's a show about water. Salt or fresh, almost 3/4
of our planet is covered by it, and it makes up to 65% of our
bodies. It's our most important nutrient — we simply can't live
without it. No wonder it's a common theme for ambient music.

On this transmission of Hearts of Space, music that celebrates
water, on a program called HYDROLOGY. From the primordial
ocean, the source of all life — we'll navigate rivers and streams,
lakes and marshes — tracing the water cycle.

=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
PGM 802 : "ARGUABLY POST-AMBIENT"
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
PGM NOTE : new sounds from the international electronic soundscape
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
FEED DATE : 5-11-07
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=

INTRO: Well, spacefan, this time it's a fresh collection of
psycho-acoustic experiments from Norway, Switzerland,
England, California, Ohio, Vermont, and not least: mighty little
Rhode Island. The textures are mostly electronic, but acoustic
sounds still play a big role. In many cases, you really can't
say what the sound _is_ ...and that's the point. We're living in
an inter-national, supra-cultural, technically-enhanced music
matrix, and the results are diverse beyond imagination.

Genre names don't last long in this creative environment.
A few years ago, we'd have called this show electronica or
ambient, but today some of the artists would object if we did.
On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we'll look for a
congenial harbor amongst the creative flux. Let's call it
ARGUABLY POST-AMBIENT.

PGM 801 : "DEEKSHA"
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
PGM NOTE : Indian devotional chants and contemplative instrumentals
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=
FEED DATE : 5-04-07
=--------------------------------------------------------------------=

INTRO: Deeksha...is a Sanskrit word for the "transfer of divine
energy." In the West, we might call it a blessing, a transmission,
or a spiritual healing. Whatever you call it, in music you know it
when you hear it, and there's a venerable genre of Indian music
dedicated to it that's been embraced and extended by Western
musicians.
On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we return to the ardent,
timeless, devotional sound of Indian music on a program called...
DEEKSHA.
